Week 05 Announcements

Congrats on finishing your first big assignment guys!
Now on to the second assignment! (Fun fact this character is from Street Fighter as well!)

Your newest assignment chosen by popular demand is for you to create a Fighting Game (Street Fighter-esque) with different sorts of characters! If you have any issues with anatomy, send it over to dunesandd@yahoo.com and I'll draw over them. Here are the rules for this week.

  • Each person must create three characters, 20 sketches minimum, full body!
  • This week, you are only supposed to draw BODY TYPES. Is your character small, fat, lean, gangly, etc? Draw our many different types of bodies, explore please! To have a successful fighting game, your anatomy skills are very important! You are welcome to explore poses as well, but you don't have to get crazy detailed with them yet.
  • Create a theme for your fighting game. What kind of fighters are they? Zombies? Ninjas? Fighting.....Ballerinas? Hell anything as long as you can support it, but PLEASE make them humanoid.
  • YOU MAY ALL DRAW IN DIFFERENT STYLES. However please don't make things crazy different. I don't want Nathan Drake fighting Kirby or Sonic fighting Kratos. Inevitably we've realized you all start drawing in a similar style though so no worries.
  • Base your characters off of a Street Fighter ARCHETYPE and preferably their MOVESET. That way you have a feel for your characters and what kinds of moves they can pull off. Remember that archetype does not mean for you to copy characters. We don't want to see Ryu or Chun Li up there.
Here are some examples for some character archetypes.

  • Please create reference sheets of the Street Fighter character you have chosen for said archetype. Is it ok to reference other games for archetypes and fighting styles? OF COURSE, but please try and find similar characters from Street Fighter as it's easier to do so. Street Fighter has many many characters to choose from, there are many online sources like the Street Fighter wiki and such, use them, or even watch videos online or as friends that are familiar with the game! You are welcome to reference ANY Street Fighter game you wish!  Try not to have the same archetype if you can, there are many different characters in Street Fighter!
  • Team Leaders, please create a template for your team to use as usual, include everyone's name and make sure it isn't too complicated!

Here are some examples of what the ref sheets should look like.

That's it for now. Hong will be back next week, he's excited to see what you guys have in mind!
